Food Market Store Manager – Apply on or before April 1st, 2024

 

Nestled at the foot of Cape Breton Highlands National Park in Nova Scotia, Cheticamp Co-op is a diversified retail business providing its members/customers with food, hardware and building supplies. Our co-operative has been serving our community since 1937. It has an impressive growth record and an annual sales volume of approximately $15 million.

 

Position Description:

 

The Food Market Manager is accountable to develop store specific action plans and direct all activities within the store ensuring that customer service standards and performance targets are achieved and priorities are aligned with overall store and organizational strategy. The Manager will also manage budgets, labor costs, inventory control, product presentation and merchandising. The Manager will coach, motivate and develop their team to foster member/customer loyalty, fulfil member/customer needs and actively contribute to an environment of employee and community engagement.

 

Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

 

Business Leader  

• Develop and execute the store’s retail strategies

• Local market knowledge of clientele base and brand competitors

• Aware of business trends that relate to the success of the store

• Demonstrate strong business acumen through KPI’s to develop and support business driving strategies

• Lead team by leveraging company tools, incentives & strategies to support meeting sales goals

 

People Leader

• Ensure that the store team executes the organizations mission and values to effectively communicate to our visitors who we are, what we do and why we do what we do

• Develops an environment of growth, accountability and inclusivity through development, performance management, training and consistent coaching

• Conducts talent analysis of colleagues and establish career progression plans for key players and positions to result in intention of best talent and turnover reduction

 • Establish succession plan and recruitment strategy

 

Operations Leader  

• Oversee Sales & Service and Operations to ensure execution of all key strategies

• Oversee and support execution of key operational and visual guidelines

• Champion strong visual standards for the sales floor

• Support a safe work environment and efficient operation

 

Business Partner

• Collaborate with cross-functional business partners to support organizational goals

• Be a brand ambassador and create a store culture that aligns with the Cooperatives mission

• Demonstrate an ability to navigate the organization with a balance of business need and brand culture

• Create and implement effective communication strategies throughout store

 

Skills and Qualifications

We’re looking for professional, organized workers who have a healthy sense of adventure and a strong knowledge and experience base.

 

• A minimum of two years of experience in a high-volume grocery/retail environment

• Strong customer service skills

• Record of bottom line and sales results in previous roles

• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions both verbally and orally

• Strong computer knowledge of essential business softwares

• Strong knowledge of grocery operating principles

• Exceptional analytical, problem solving and decision making skills with a high attention to detail

• Proven organizational, planning and prioritizing skills

• Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal skills and superior customer service skills

• Must have the ability and desire to develop an in-depth understanding of customers

• Demonstrates a personal and enthusiastic commitment to Co-op’s vision, mission, values and strategies

• Highly motivated and adventurous with an appreciation for small town life in a culturally diverse setting considered an asset

 

Language

English – Advanced level written and spoken required

French – Written and spoken skills will be considered an asset

 

Salary / Benefits

Salary: Starting at $50,000 (negotiable)
